HopeSprings
Just curious to see if there are certain trends. Please answer for yourself or the person with dysautonomia, if you are answering for a friend or relative. I wish I had room to do one for gender - we seem to be mostly women, but I've noticed a lot of teenage boys and several men with dysautonomia. I'll do a seperate poll for gender, to make this a complete picture. Forgive me if I left anyone out in terms of categories or if I phrased something incorrectly. Definitely not looking to offend anyone! Just realized these "race" categories don't fit for some people living in foreign countries. In that case, just add your "race" (ethnicity or whatever) below if you like.
andersondebra
Hi,I am Native American / Italian, so, I was not sure how to answer your race question, but there it is. Will you be posting your results? I would be interested in knowing if there is somekind of trend. Thanks,Debra
HopeSprings
What a pretty combination. I thought you were able to view results when you vote? Do I need to change something to make the results viewable? This info is for all of us, not just me.
comet555
Lol, I can't believe Canada didn't make the list in any category! So by default I voted "other".
Ernie
Hi,I am also surprised that you are not aware that Canada and Mexico are also in North America. North America is not only USA. You have 7 different categories for US but your north and sourth neighbours are missing. Only 5 categories for the rest of the world. Yours stats are skewed. North America is not only USA.Lol, yes... I noticed Mexico too. We'll just blame it on the dysautonomia!
HopeSprings
Oh no! How could I forget Canada and Mexico! Duh. Let me see if I can add them. If I forgot anything else on either poll, let me know.
radiohfan23
Naomi, just wanted to thank you for doing this. I think polls like this can be invaluable in terms of research.
Ernie
Hi Naomi,Thanks for making the corrections. There are 31 members in my family who are presently diagnosed. They are all Canadians both males and females. The youngest is 14 years old and the oldest is 82 years old. We have 4 living generations caucatians. We don't know the etiology. HopeSprings
That's incredible Ernie! Have you guys had the genetic test for NET deficiency? I'll bet Vanderbilt (or some other research facility) would be really interested in your family.
Ernie
Hi Naomi,I was tested for the NET mutation and that's not the mutation that we have. Ours is unknown. I hope that one day researchers will find out.

HopeSprings
Just bumping up because I noticed several more votes on Part 2 - wanted to be sure Part 1 was seen.
HopeSprings
Why does it say I posted on this thread at 7:42am today? I didn't.
Rachel
Naomi,The time of 7:42am would have been referring to the most recent time a vote was received. When someone votes within a topic, the topic is automatically back up to the top of the forum page, and it the time for the most recent activity within the topic is updated.Hope this makes sense! jekecana
My boys are 3 & 5, african american & both have dysautomonia (to different extents).
Steph
Can't say I think these results will be terribly accurate in terms of actual demographics of POTS/Dysautonomia. It'll only reflect the demos of the forum users, which is restricted by language, access to medicine, technological fluency/comfort, and access to a computer and internet. On top of that, exactly half of the specified locations are parts of the US, with the rest of the planet being lumped together.I'm not trying to be offensive . . . I just think it's important that you recognize the flaws of a survey like this and do not give undue weight to the results.
