I keep having these moments where it feels like my head is going numb and my heart starts to race really fast. It feels like I'm having a stroke, but I'm obviously not. These moments last about 10 seconds at the most. They're terrifying. I am fully aware of whats going on. My hands usually shake afterward, but I'm not sure if that's because I'm scared or what lol. Do these sounds like seizures or adrenaline surges to anyone? Does anyone have anything similar?

I really don't know what you're having, but what you described made me first think of a possible pheochromocytoma. It is a benign adrenal tumor that spurts out adrenaline, and the main symptoms are headache(not necessary), palpitations, possible sweating, and of course the "adrenaline rush" feeling. It might be worth it to ask your doctor for either a 24-hour urine catecholamines or the plasma metanephrine test. Just a thought.

I think I've had this before and it was very scary.

I think with whatever condition I have it has triggered a bunch of neurological sensations that could almost be categorized under anxiety or panic disorder. Similar symptoms at least as what is experienced.

I do think it was a physical event such as virus or exposure to some substance that caused this to happen in my body.

I just never feel normal any more.

My entire sensorium and state of being is off in an altered state and I have no control over it.

It varies too from just slightly off to going into those types of weird sensations and for a while there I even had a terrified look in my eye.

Try as much as you can to relax and breathe.

Find a physician who you can trust to confide in with the issues you have and let them know what you are experiencing so that if any of it sounds concerning to them they can order proper tests for you.

I'm so sorry :( I can certainly relate to this feeling. I had some numbness and tingling in my face/scalp. It's the worst. I constantly feel disconnected from my own body.

Hi Lindsey!

Just wanted to let you know I have the exact same episodes!! (Had some today actually.scary and I sure hate them! cry everytime it happens because I am sure I am stroking out!)...at first I too thought I was having TIA's...they are so scary!!!! My specialist thinks they are due to POTS and adrenaline receptor issues. I am hypovolemic also and notice they start coming on if I am not taking in extra fluid and having bad pooling. Not sure if you are on Florinef but I have found it helps alot with the stroke-like episodes as well as a small dose of lorazepam when they are really bad because it knocks the adrenaline down quickly. Also one of my docs thinks it could be a glucose issue because sometimes they come on after I have eaten something sweet...so who knows??? I just wanted you to know you are not alone and that mine are identical!!! When I get one I just lay down, start drinking extra fluids, try to get my pressure up and stay calm. I have had CT's of my head to rule other things out so I am atleast confident it is just the stupid POTS playing games ;) hang in there!!! hugs
