SLynn Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 Lately, I have been just sitting at the computer or television and noticed that I get really dizzy while just sitting there. It just started happening so I haven't gotten to go visit my doctor. I was wondering if anyone else has ever had this happen? Quote
futurehope Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 Dizziness was my main symptom of POTS when I was at work in front of my computer terminal as a computer programmer. For years, I blamed my dizziness on all sorts of things. But, it's POTS in my case. Quote
MightyMouse Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 Yup. On some of my more symptomatic days, I get woozy sitting -or- standing. Only lying prone helps on those days.Dizziness is a primary symptom of POTS. If you haven't already tried the siimple stuff, you may want to do so: increase fluid intake & salt intake.Nina Quote
SLynn Posted December 10, 2003 Author Report Posted December 10, 2003 Yes, I have tried all of the simple things. I usually would just get dizzy when I stood for a long time. The dizziness has just started to get worse the past few weeks. Thank you for your replies! Quote
Kimberley Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 Oh yea, I would have to stop watching the TV because there was to much movement in the scenes. Again, I get dizzy alot just like my chest pains. Quote
geneva Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 I too have the same problem although over the years it has improved. I have to be careful the amount of time I spend at the PC or reading. I also found that when my Florinef dosage was higher it contributed SIGNIFICANTLY to the severity of length of dizziness and I had it often for an entire day and just sat on the couch. Now that I am on less Florinef it is much better. Quote
Alexander Posted December 10, 2003 Report Posted December 10, 2003 Yes! dizziness in front of the PC or TV or whenever standing still is my primary symptom. And the fact that I am a PhD student who needs to sit sown and read/research in the internetr does not help at all. Of course there are good days and bad ones, but it is always there. I do not know what to do witn this one. Any suggestions beyond the salt/water/drugs alternatives..Alex Quote
Ling Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 I only have bad days and worst days. Once in a blue moon I have good days. I am learning to accept bad days as normal in my life. For me what has helped allot is my blood pressure tablets. I can't take Florinef like you guys or the vascular... tablets due to my heart problem. I also take fructose tablets, which is a slow release in my body. I take this for my sugar problem. I am totally drunk today and all I can do to help it is take all my tablets, eat and stay out of the sun. The sun has a horrible effect on me and makes my dizziness much worst. I live in South Africa so the heat is unbearable at the moment. Try the blood pressure and fructose tablets as well as eating 6 small meals a day. My body has different needs at different times. Some days I get weak and start shaking then I eat more on that day. But remember it is what we eat that counts. All 3 of my diseases are connected so this method helps me a bit. But I am sorry to say it is no cure. At this point in my life I don’t believe I will ever find one.I have also had to learn to take life easy, don’t try and do everything in one day and ask for help. On worst days take it easy, if you don’t you are just going to make yourself sicker. Quote
ethansmom Posted December 11, 2003 Report Posted December 11, 2003 Yes, this happens to me as well. I also experienced significant releif from the dizziness once I cut back on my Florinef. One reason I had to stop working when I first got sick is because the computer screen literally made me ill- and I used to wear sunglasses to work just to try and make it through the day!! But all this has improved over time, and now I rarely have problems- but I'll notice especially when I've been running around, and I sit down suddenly, that's when it hits me- and then takes a few minutes to level out once I sit down. It helps for me to get up and down slowly Quote
Goblin Posted December 16, 2003 Report Posted December 16, 2003 Dizziness was my first and most prominent symptom when I first became sick and it is still something that I struggle with every day. I often have trouble with dizziness when I am sitting at the computer or watching tv too. It seems to pass quickly. I usually shift around, or get up and walk for a minute, and it seems to get a little better. Sometimes nothing helps though. I think it has something to do with sitting still, and the blood not circulating, just a guess though;) -Stacey Quote
