Steph
Since my doctor recommended tilting my bed, I often wake with numbness and pain down the side I'm laying on. Even when I'm awake and change positions a lot, this is often the case. Help? I spend most of every day in bed.
Guest tearose
I'd UNTILT the bed!!!If it is not working then try sleeping without it. Tell your doctor it did not work. It doesn't work for all so don't fret over it. I for one cannot tilt.
potsgirl
i tilted my bed about 4", and it did nothing for me. i'd untilt your bed, or at make it 50% lower to see if that helps. Like Tearose said, it doesn't work for some of us.Cheers,J
janiedelite
I was recommended to tilt my bed by Mayo last February. I tilted it for a few months, went back to flat again for a few months, tilted again. I can say it hasn't made any difference in my overall symptoms. BUT I've kept it tilted as I didn't get any worse with it, and it helps when I go from lying in my bed to standing up. Lying totally flat makes the transition a bit harder. That's the ONLY reason I elevate the head of my bed by 4 inches or so. It has not made any positive impact on the progression of my symptoms. paint-the-moon
I had the same problem until my chiropractor told me that I should be raising it from the frame, not just under the mattress ... it makes an even slant then and not "bending" your body in the middle. We have concrete blocks underneath each of the feet of the top of the frame on our bed.
potsgirl
That's the same thing we do....Concrete blocks under the top two posts, and then another in the mid-center of the bed so there's no sagging (we have a king bed.)
Steph
Yeah, I've got bricks under the feet of my bed. I think my problem's more to do with pressure than with being out of alignment. I think I'll probably de-tilt my bed the next time my dad comes through town (it's too heavy for mw to lift by myself.)
