Has anyone found Medical Marijuana Effects POTS?

I am an on/off again marijuana user.

I love it short-term - it really helps me focus and get things done. Smoking is better, but hard on the lungs. I've emulsified the product in oil many times, but I tend to overheat the oil and burn out the non-THC elements. I'm getting a modern slow cooker for Christmas so I can cook the oil more effectively.

Long-term - I tend to get lazy and irritable. So it's a once-a-week thing for me right now.

I've had issues with it making me nauseated, dizzy, and causing POTS symptoms. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. I do not understand why.

I also like CBD oil for anxiety, but I am trying to cut back because it is expensive. The brand I buy OTC is 2$/day at the rate I've been using it - that is too much to pay for a pill.

Hi, I know this is an old post, but I wanted to comment on it based on my experiences. I've had terrible experiences with marijuana since my POTS symptoms developed. I used to smoke marijuana regularly, but since I've developed POTS my body can't handle it. Like some of the previous commenters, I have terrible side effects from smoking marijuana. Even with one toke, my body just goes completely crazy. Sometimes it happens right away, and other times it creeps up on me 15 minutes or so after the fact. I'll start to get a sensation of blood rushing to/from my head -- not quite ringing in the ears, but close. My heart starts to race and I get that doomy feeling. My blood pressure skyrockets. It is not a panic attack, but it looks similar. In my worst episode, my body felt like it was being electrocuted and I had a severe pins and needles sensation throughout my body, but especially my hands. My jaw and hands went numb and clenched. I experienced what I can only describe as "waves" of the sensation, which would get more severe, then taper off, and come back again. I ended up puking at the end of it. On every occasion, I come down with tremors, especially in my legs. Reading a previous comment about a hypothermic effect made me wonder if that's what I had. My worst experience lasted 2.5 hours, and the shortest one was closer to 30 minutes. I'm totally wiped by the end of it and usually just fall asleep afterwards because of the toll it takes on my body. I've learned my lesson and know I just can't risk even trying it any more.

I just wanted to comment here because this was the first time I read other experiences that were similar to mine. Until now, I've never been able to connect these experiences specifically to POTS -- I've always been worried something else was going on. So, in that sense, I'm a little relieved. I hope this is helpful to others.

I have a medical cannabis card and find, for me, it is really helpful for certain things—Indica salve for pain and an Indica edible for “rescue”—those times when you overdo and feel like you might not make it. The rescue aspect works for me like nothing else. I only take a very small amount—never enough to feel high. But, we are all individuals so what works for me may not work for others. Saliva is probably the strain to be careful of as it is stimulating for most.

I'm having a lot of trouble with MM. I've tried tinctures, vaping, and cream. All of them give me horrible headaches, wired but tired feeling so I can't do anything. I have been trying indica at night and having very troubling nightmares. I have IC (bladder pain syndrome) and I literally live in horrific pain and no doctor will give me anything. I use a heating pad all the time and I've got wounds and burns and discoloration. Someone suggested edibles. IDK. Didn't really affect POTS.

I use a very small dose of edible indica (dark chocolate that is very clearly dosage marked) and it is extremely helpful for "extremis" symptoms like the "I feel like I am about to die" feeling. An indica salve helps me with arthritis type aches and pains, but I don't have experience with deeper pain. So sorry!

I have the same issues.  Illera high cbd to thx tincture works great for me.  I don't get any racy heart rates and I can control the exact amounts with the dropper.  Stick with the tinctures or the sprays as they will be easy to control.  I am extremely sensitive to chemicals and meds and this has worked very well for me thank heavens.

I use medical marijuana, I’ve noticed that it raises my heart rate and exasperates some of my symptoms while I’m high, but reduces my heart rate and symptoms when I’m sober as well as decreasing fatigue. I’ve learned after smoking I need to take it easy, so I usually make mt self something to eat before and watch a movie and lay down afterwards.
