hi..

How many states are there leagall mariuanna.? I am going to chech out the manitol, but daupt higly that i can gett it here..

Here its all over illigal, and I think mariuanna is very dificult to gett a hold of. Hasjis is more the thing here..

And me being such a straigth girl wouldnt know how to gett a hold of it even if i whanted. And then again i wouldnt buy of the streets anyhow, since i know that what u gett might be dangouros. One thing is that they but stuff in it. Other thing is that there is so many forms and strengths. And then there is this i think its called skunk.

I saw this documatary was back. And this reporter whent on this medical reasche trial. First se smoked the old type hasjis. She got the gigles and mild reactions. But not unpleasent once. then she tryed the skunk, she got paranoid and had a bad experiens...

I do wish though that medical mariuanna was awailebal here.. that will never happen thoug...

I was in amsterdam years back. And i tryed the mildest mariuanna they had. It was only once and not that many pufs. But it helped whit pains, and i sleept rather well that night. Ofcorse i got a lilte high too. But not in a bad way. I react very badly to alhcol, so was fearing tha same reaction.

If i could i would grow a litle my slef. Cant be any wors than the heavy duty pain killers and sleeping meds i take somthimes (ust to gett some sleep once in a while). And the evryday paracettmole use cant be very healty either..

So i gess what i am saying is, if theree is a safe way to gett it why not try it? And whit most meds it seems half of us reacts badly and half fine...

So, with my physican's approval (I actually couldn't believe how open he was to marijuana!) I got my medical marijuana "license". Since I don't want to smoke anything, I purchased (after the "dispensary's" help) hashish oil. What I do--and only at night--is put a tiny amount on a pill (I use a calcium tablet). Chronic pain has been a daily friend since 1988 (a MVA) my rheumatoid arthritis, and fibromyalgia. I now have spinal stenosis and degenerative disk disease. I haven't found it's done anything to my POTS symptoms and a bunch to help with the pain. Beats narcotics--which I was on for 16 yrs. If you're interested in which states find weed legal go to www.weedmaps.com. I was a marijuana "virgin". I grew up in San Francisco--a teen in the 60's and never used or tried the stuff. This, at age 58 is, well, a trip!!!

PS: The indica strain gives a narcotic reaction. It's best for medical purposes. I get NO "high". The sativa strain or the hybrids cause the head high and I would imagine shouldn't be used by POTS patients. If you buy weed on the street, you have no idea what you're getting. Just a "heads" up--LOL!

Great info there Zaks. My friend who smokes regularly does so for Chrons and he believes it supresses the inflammation that is associated with this condition. It helps him so Im all for it. Im sure if he got caught by police and had to go to court they would be lenient on him.

he also sticks purely to the indica strains which he say have more beneficial properties whereas he also states that the stronger street weeds are consumed purely for their psychotropic effects.

i wish it was a magic bullet for me. if Im really Potsie a toke can help a little but more often it makes me vastly worse. Apparently it tricks your body into believing it has already released glutamate and Gaba in the brain, thus both are restricted from further release. How that plays out in the POTS world is interest. It also messes with nitric oxide which is bad news for some POTSies and possibly good news for others...

I'm orthostatic hypertensive and have found taking one small hit a day keeps my BP in check, I get a slight increase when I frist stand then that's it. I'm also taking 1000mg of niacin and 5mg of cialis, this seems to hold my BP stable though my HR still raises......one thing at a time I guess. I'm keeping a BP / HR log to build a case for my PCP to write a script for Marinol, we'll see how that goes. Once again we have to know what type of POTS we have and look for the drugs to lessem those symptoms.

I tried this when my pain was at its peak. It helped with the pain and inability to sleep due to the pain. It also made some of my other symptoms worse. I would wake up feeling like I was starting to flare (shortness of breath, fatigue, freq urination). I have not tried it since the pain has gone away or since I am on Midodrine, as I didn't feel like I needed it for anything.

My advice is to know the consequences of using it in your state, use it carefully as you would any other medication, and to keep a journal of how you feel before and after so that you can judge for yourself if it is helping or not.

Wow! I have never heard of hashish oil. Good to know, thank you!

I read recently that THC acts in part as an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor. Some patients report to me that 'one toking' - that is the act of a single toke on a joint makes them feel better. There was some bizarre stuff up for a while on wikipedia suggesting that it could kill people with POTS or some razy ramble. I deleted it.

It never helped me at all btw - tried it three times and it made my symptoms far worse rather than better more often than not. I think the orthostatic hypotension it can cause didnt go down well with my exaggerated responses to it. LOL Actually maybe once it did mildly.

But I wonder out aloud - could a small toke improve acetlycholinesterase activity but too much trigger a cascade of bad consequences. Lactuca virosa is a common weed that also contains acetylcholinesterase inhibitors but it also contains adenoside receptor agonists which might be a bad idea for POTS?

As Zaks mentioned, there's different side effects from indica and sativa. I don't know how you determine which you're getting (maybe it's clearer when you can buy it legally). I liked it when I was a much healthier teen, many years ago, and since then have felt AWFUL anytime I've been brave enough to try it again. I have problems keeping my HR up and my BP up, and I think that's why - either the indica or sativa (can't remember which) have vasodilating effects, which are not good for me.
