firewatcher
I am in Florida. Much too bright, hot and sunny Florida. My husband loves the beach and wanted to take the boys on a vacation before school starts. I used to enjoy the beach, until I had my first skin cancer removed and began having migraines. I don't do sun anymore, its not really good for my health. So he takes the boys to the pool or the beach and fries their tender little bodies while I sit up here alone (which isn't half bad! ) Unfortunately, I have to cook all the meals because there is no place that we can all eat as a family due to my little one's milk allergy . So between trips to the grocery store for food and stuff we forgot and "just have to have!..... (in a high pitched whining voice) I am on vacation . There is nothing I can do to make it easier, I'd probably have fun if it was just me and hubby, but that would be a whole other issue ! I know I'm whining. I should be grateful that we can even afford to come down here (the condo is borrowed from a friend) but I feel like a big, smelly, wet blanket. Just looking at the big sliding glass doors is blinding, and it is so hot that I just wilt! Just smile and wave, just smile and wave. I'm fine, no really, I'm fine.....that sounds great.....there's no place like home...there's no place like home...blast! I forgot my ruby slippers somewhere in the sand! janiedelite
Yikes! I've visited orlando and tampa prior to having POTS, and just thinking of the heat and humidity sounds like torture! You're brave! Well, I hope your boys are having fun anyay...
juliegee
Not too different from sunny GA, but at least there you are home & have it all down to a science. Try to enjoy a walk on the beach to enjoy the sunset. Sometimes just the sound of the ocean is so healing.Hugs-Julie
firewatcher
Ah the fickle whims of mother nature...a tropical storm has driven us home early. The thought of being possibly stuck in our rooms without power during a tropical storm has taken us back home early. All in all, it was not as bad as it could have been: I didn't get dehydrated, have a migraine or a melt-down! I actually got to go snorkeling for 20 minutes one morning! Whoo hoo! I was done for the rest of the day. Something about being in water makes me feel like lead afterward, the exertion is just too much. I am looking forward to my own bed, my own kitchen and my routine. Perhaps next year will be better. At least the kids had fun.
daisy
I realized that my "family vacations" should really be called my "children's vacations". When they were over, my hubby and I needed a vacation. But, there were many happy moments in between the chaos and I hope we gave our children happy memories along the way. Glad you got home before the storms hit - there's no place like home
