Prayers For My Son

Thanks everyone,

I am trying hard to take care of myself as well as my son. It is hard... I tend to forget about myself and take care of others first. I think my body is trying to tell me something, I've had awful nausea lately, especially when I've eaten. This isn't normal for me. I'm guessing it is stress.

Melissa, the three times a day thing is definitely wearing on me! I am so tired! Re: an arm wrap, he has something that is white and stretchy and works well. Hopefully it lasts the duration of the PICC. I think I'm doing pretty well with caring for the PICC so far. The medicine is delivered frozen, and won't unfreeze very well in the refrigerator. So I'm trying to work out a routine to give him his medicine (unfrozen) and not leave it out too long...

Thanks again everyone for your well wishes! We go see the pulmonary specialist on Monday.

:)

Oh Angela-

I'm late to this, but horrified to hear of all you've been through. So happy things are going in the right direction. Hug your baby well and take good care of yourself. The media has me scared silly for this next flu season.... YOU know why- firsthand. I'm sending healing prayers for Christopher. Keep us posted.

We saw pulmonary specialist today. No change. ;) I guess that is better than a change for the worse, but I would really have liked to see some improvement. The poor kid's morale is way down. He just wants to get better. We go back in about 2 1/2 weeks. If there is still no improvement, then we start with another CT scan and go from there to see what needs to be done. I hope it doesn't get to that.

Thanks again for the thoughts and prayers.

  • 3 weeks later...

We had our pulmonary visit yesterday and he is improving! His chest x ray, while not nearly normal, is markedly improved! They decided to discontinue the PICC for now so he is very happy. I hope he doesn't start with fevers... Let this be the end of the nightmare!

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers!

Oh Angela,

I am so sorry. This has been going on for too long & now YOU end up with an allergic reaction (?) or something... Stress, like this, makes everything worse. I am praying so hard that your sweet son is soon all better. You guys have been through the wringer with the swine flu. Did you ever get it? You are most certainly very vulnerable right now. Try to take care of yourself during all of this.

I'm sending lots of hugs and prayers. Keep us posted.

Thanks everyone,

We go back to Children's tomorrow afternoon to see how he's doing. At the moment, he's with his dad, (my first husband) and I can't put my hands on him or look at him. He's been using his inhaler and having dizzy spells from what I'm hearing. My littlest one also has bronchitis. Things sure do stay active in this household.

My bump is gone and things are getting slightly better physically for me each day.

I appreciate all of you!

The visit went well at Children's today. :) Still on the antibiotic and still using inhalers, but the bad cough has lessened. The doctor said his sputum culture had a lot of white blood cells in it. :) Poor kid. But it sounds like he is on the mend now. Hopefully they STAY that way.

I'm tired and need a break!

Thanks everyone,

Angela

  • 1 month later...

Ok, I'm asking for more prayers now. My son now has pleurisy, yet another complication from the H1N1/Pneumonia debacle. He is really upset, crying on the way home from the hospital. This keeps coming back and biting him over and over... I feel so badly for him. His pulmonary specialist has been really good with him, explaining that what he had was brutal, but he is improving... As bad as he feels now, she has seen much worse outcomes.

So now I am nervous again. I thought we were in the recovery process. And now we are back to being acutely ill again.

Also, my youngest woke up this morning with a fever of 102, cough and headache. I pray to God he doesn't have H1N1. He has underlying asthma, and he's been having problems for about a month. Will be calling the doctor at 8:30.

:(

The poor kid. What a journey. Has he been off from school all this time?

He went back to school with a PICC line, and has been working up to "normal" activity since. He is just experiencing a setback.

My other one probably has H1N1. We went to Children's for testing. I should know something in about an hour.

Geez.

Oh Angela,

I somehow missed this latest setback & now your younger son has it, too???? You know your younger son will receive the best and most cautious care given his underlying issues & brother's long recovery.Your entire family is most definitely in my prayers. How much can one Mama handle? Try to take good care of yourself during this trying time & post when you can.

Thanks Julie,

We are definitely busy right now. I feel very badly for the little one. We had to reschedule his birthday party and he missed his school carnival. Today his fevers aren't so high, and he is eating a little and sitting up.

The oldest one is very angry with me because I have put him on "house arrest" while he recovers from the pleurisy. He seems to have forgotten what it was like to spend 16 days in the hospital. He just wants to go, go, go instead of resting and recovering.

I am definitely keeping a close eye on all of them, and hopefully this will soon be a memory. I hate to be so worried.

Thanks for the prayers!

Dear Angela,

I continue to keep you and your family in my prayers. You remind me of myself as a young mom when I felt one thing after another would happen to my youngest son who is very sick. I was divorced at the time and never knew how I would ever get through all of these things. I also believe I had Pots back then. When your children are sick this stregnth comes from above and guides you through it.

Mom always told me that, "there was nothing to fear but fear itself." We made it through horrible things, noone believe the stories when I tell them, but he made it. My oldest son is now sick with the H1N1 flu and he lives 7 hours away. If I could I'd jump in a car and go take care of him. He's 31 but I could hear that I need my mom tone in his voice that mom's only hear once in a while when there kids are sick. I know when I'm with a fever I still cry for my mom and she is 90. I remember the first year he was in collage and caught the flu and I drove throught a blizzard to get him and drove hom back home in the middle of the night. It was around Thanksgiving and of course I stayed home with him as the other kids went off with family to celebrate. He thanked me for missing Thanksgiving and staying with him and one week later I was sicker than ever. I wouldn't have changed a thing that year, as that was where I belonged and he needed me. When we are sick we all seen to need our moms, I still call for my mom when I'm deathly ill and she is 90. She was wonderful to me when I was sick. God Bless for all she did for me as she taught me how to be caring to those who are sick.

I'm really proud of you Angela for all you have been through sweetheart, as I know it isn't easy. I hope you can just let go and let God and go with the flow as to not stress your body anymore than it is. it sounds like the boys are getting good care. Please when you are able let us know how thay are.

Sincerely with xxx's and love,

Bellamia~
