Struggling with Overeating

The weight issue is certainly an emotional issue for all of us. Since what we have is a "syndrome" meaning that different organs etc, are effected for each of us. My doc told me and she was right that my weight would fluctuate 5-10lbs/day. I try and it works to eat 6 small meals a day. Every time my exercise is on schedule and feeling better, another thing happens and can't exercise. We are all at different stages of dealing with this disease, so we all can't be in control. Certainly eating complex carbs is great. I understand that the lady from Mi.is very stroong and has had many reasons to be in total control. As a fitness specialist, who had until 4 years ago 25% body fat, now its 33. So its not lack of wolpower, but most of us have gained a significant amount of weight before diagnosed. Also remember the thyroid factor, and get that checked to be sure that is ok. Blessings to all. Miriam ;)

Jan,

Your eloquently written post is full of truths. Thank you for posting it. I just read it now for the first time. I am going to print some of what you have written for my own daily inspiration as it regards my own daughters and my legacy to them. I don't want it to be like it was for you with your mom. My daughters worry about my health too. My youngest was in preschool when I first started with all this dysautonomia/CFS stuff. Now she is almost 17. She has worried about me all her life. I am doing the exercising part just fine; eating the wrong foods, or too much for my age (51) is what has kept me from achieving my fitness goals. When you spoke of your mom's ups and downs with her bad habits, doing well and then returning to her old ways, hit a chord. All I can say is that I am going to reread your posts as often as I can so that I never forget what you have written. I owe myself and my children more. Thank you Jan. God bless you.

PS My own mother died at 67 of a massive heart attack. And she weighed much less than I do now.

Hi All,

I am a weight fluctuator. I have gone from 116 to 145 in as little as three months. I have gone from 145 back down to 112 in as little as 30 days. I am 5'3", and yes, everyone can see the fluctuations. I have to keep two closets full of clothes ranging from size 2 to 10, because on any given day, I have no idea how anything will fit. No, I do not diet, I do watch what I eat, but I really do think I am one of those "freak" people who really doesn't have much control over the weight. My body seems to be searching for a "set point", and I pray it won't set on the 145! ;)
