Prestiq--anyone?

Recommended Posts

Anyone taking Prestiq for fatigue? My endo recommends it "to all his dysautonomia patients" for fatigue.

It is a serotonin/norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor--meaning it makes serotonin and norepinephrine more active in the system. Sounds like a BAD idea for those of us labeled "hyper-adrenergic." Anyone with any experience with this drug?

I had seen this was one of the newer SSRI/SNRI type meds out there, and had wondered if it would have any benefit to us? I also wonder if anyone has tried it?

I find it interesting you have a dr that already uses it in all his dysautonomia pts. Is he a dys. specialist or a local type dr. that is familiar with the diagnosis?

Not sure about the hyperadrenergic thing. I thought those that are hyperadrenergic can take SSRI/SNRI's? (Although, I realize it is hit and miss on what works... with the emphasis on miss...).

This is endo #1 (Dr. Meanie instead of Dr.s Miney and Moe) who now added "Autonomic Evaluation" to his list of sub-specialties. Granted, he has been "the most right" and sees huge numbers of diabetics and people with neuropathies, but he did not know what Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome was until I brought the first article to him; he called it "mitral valve prolapse syndrome."

There is something both alarming and reassuring when a doc takes a look at your lab results, looks directly at you and says: "These are really screwed up!"
