dsdmom
Hard to do with the stomach flu, but you really need to try to stay as hydrated as possible. Anything you can get down - popsicles, etc. You may benefit from pedialyte pops - that way you'll get much needed electrolytes.
momofsara
ditto on the liquids, its the most important part. Have you contacted your doctor for advise on what to take for your symptoms??? If you are having fever, try some Tylenol. But most of all LIQUIDS. Take care, and let us know how you are. We care for each other on this forum. By the way---welcome to the forum........Susan
lizzyp
thank you all for the advice.....im trying to push the fluids, but its hard. Pulse is high, but I hope its a 24 hour thing so that I can start to get better. Worst case, I will go to ER for fluids. Thanks to everyone. Rachel
I'll echo what the others said about fluids. It's always important to have enough fluid intake, but it is especially important when sick and vomitting.Welcome to DINET!Rachel
ramakentesh
I find stomach flues much worse than colds actually for POTS. Usually feel symptomatic before it comes on and afterwards for a week or so. This is probably due to liquids being taken out.
MelissaCrystal
Don't try to move a lot---really try to prevent yourself from throwing up. Flexing all those muscles and losing all those fluids is like running a deadly marathon for POTS people. You need to keep your heart from getting too stressed out or else your episodes will never end. I'm so sorry that you're sick. Definitely keep hydrated with something like Gatorade. When you lose fluids, you shouldn't just replace them with plain water, you also need electrolytes. Hope you feel better!
