Future plans, Fundraisers, and Discounts

2007 is Here and We've Got Big Plans!

Movie cameraLights, Camera, Action! DINET is proud to announce that we are creating a documentary on dysautonomia! While still in early planning, we are very excited about this project. Just imagine what an excellent educational tool we can create. Funding toward this project is needed and appreciated. If you can help, please make donations via Network for Good or mail checks to DINET, PO Box 55, Brooklyn, MI 49230. Thank you!

Don't Forget to Add a DINET T-Shirt to Your Spring Wardrobe!

Do you think there is little you personally can do to raise dysautonomia awareness? Well, think again! Each one of us can wear a DINET t-shirt and spread the word about dysautonomia. These t-shirts are affordably priced and describe some of the major symptoms we deal with each day. So what are you waiting for? Buy your t-shirt and join in the fight against dysautonomia today! Proceeds from the t-shirt sales will help pay for an educational documentary DINET is creating on dysautonomia.

Discount and Free Prescriptions? Yippee!
by Michelle Sawicki

pill bottleIf you haven’t heard, some of the leading pharmacies around the country are now offering discount and sometimes even free prescriptions. Check out the list of generic prescriptions that Wal-mart, Sam’s Club and Neighborhood Market Pharmacies are offering for only $4.00 at http://i.walmart.com/i/if/hmp/fusion/genericdruglist.pdf. The $4.00 price is available to any customer regardless of insurance status, age, or other qualifiers. Apparently Kroger and Rite Aid will match Wal-mart’s prices if just asked.

Other large retailers have jumped on the low-cost bandwagon as well:

  • Target has some $4.00 generic prescriptions. A list of its discount prescriptions is available here.
  • Giant Eagle is offering low cost prescriptions as well: www.gianteagle.com.
  • Meijers has jumped on the low cost bandwagon too; the store is now offering some free antibiotics.
  • Kmart offers some prescriptions at discounted prices, and other pharmacies may be doing so as well. Call your local pharmacy to see what kind of discount programs they have to offer.

If you are like me, you think prescription medication is entirely too expensive. Hopefully, these discount prescription programs will be beneficial to DINET members who have multiple and sometimes large co-pays or no insurance at all. As always, please check with your doctor before switching to generic medication. Best of luck!

Syncope Symposium Educates Physicians

Hats off to all of the physicians who will be participating in the February 23-25 International Summit on Syncope: State of the Art 2007 in Amelia Island, FL. This symposium will educate medical professionals so that they can better help all of us with dysautonomia. A big thank-you from DINET to all of the physicians who are making this symposium possible.
